I haven’t published a book yet, so don’t bother checking on Amazon. I’m a new author and a bit crazy. 🙂

I decided it would be a good idea to outline and write a seven book young adult dystopic fantasy series. My idea is to finish most of the books so that when I finally publish book 1, I can release a new book on the first of each month.

Crazy, huh?

I figure it’s going to take me about a year before I publish book 1. I had hoped to keep the books to about 70K words each, but the characters and stories are insisting on being longer.

I began my storytelling journey with crayon-illustrated books back in kindergarten. I graduated to essay and short story contests in college. Then, while homeschooling a herd of delightful children, I spent 10 or 15 years completing my first novel.

Finally, on August 1, 2018, I got serious. The self-publishing industry seemed much more mature and there were a host of wonderful pioneers in the industry willing to give advice and offer a helping hand.

Starting that first day in August, I have spent two hours, six days a week working on my author business. This consists of 2000 words a day, if I’m currently writing, editing 10,000 words or spending two hours outlining and storyboarding. I do the other half of the author business including marketing, cover design, studying and learning the business, etc., outside of those two hours.

The commitment to spend that time every day has made a huge difference in my productivity. I wrote book one of the series in six weeks (84K), book 2 of the series in eight (112K), and hope to finish book 3 in 2 1/2 months (currently at 43K). Hopefully, the stories will stop getting longer, so I can plan my release dates. 🙂

As I get closer to publishing, I plan on posting the occasional update if there are other authors or readers who find it helpful or interesting.

I also plan on finding and posting interesting articles that I feel will appeal to the readers of my genre, including topics like martial arts, virtual gaming, mental abilities, survival, medical herbs, and a host of anything else I find interesting. Please comment if there is something that particularly interests you.
