Hi Friends,

Tomorrow is my first live author event – very small at my local library, but . . . I have no books for my table.

I ordered a box of books in plenty of time from Amazon and even paid extra for a promised delivery date of yesterday or today.

Then I spent an hour on the phone yesterday with Amazon asking for info.

Apparently Amazon is too big for someone to walk over to the shipping department and check on my specific order. Who knew? 😀

So, this morning?

Feeling inconvenienced, I’m brainstorming what to put on my author table tomorrow, since I have no books.

Here are some of my ideas – What do you think? Feel free to suggest more:

  • Print the covers of my three books on cardstock and cut them out to stand up and look like books – hello, book facades – like the pretend buildings used on movie sets.
  • Line up three laptops with the ebooks loaded up for browsing.
  • Wear my karate uniform and black belt to distract them from the fact that I have no books on my table (thanks for the idea, Steph!)
  • Smile and hope my winning personality makes them think I have books on my table.
  • Um . . . drawing a blank on any more. Help?

My Writing Update:

I am 13k words into Combat Shift, Book 5, which is about 10%. A nice start as Kiriai is having her first encounter with her new trainers – read “drill sergeants”. Yabban, her AI trainer, is looking very nice by comparison. So fun!

My beta readers are working their way through Combat Impulse (#4) that I’ll publish on Dec. 1st. Dealing with PTSD and conflicts with those she cares about most, Kiriai is fighting from an underdog position, as usual. Gotta get going on writing the blurb for that and putting it up for pre-order on Amazon.

I am making sure to open my blinds to soak up the sunshine while I write – stay away winter blues! Grey and cold weather is starting here in the Midwest, America.

I’m also starting to brainstorm about my next big project after I finish the seventh book of World of Combat sometime next year. I’m thinking either a straight post-apocalypse survival series or one in the gamelit/litrpg genre with more of the ‘game in real life’ and leveling-up type of story. Feel free to tell me what you like the best.

I look forward to hearing ideas from you!

Happy reading this week,

— Misty 🙂

p.s. I promise to take a picture of my lovely, no-book author table tomorrow for posterity sake – you know, when I’m rich and famous and want to reminisce about my humble beginnings – rofl.
