Hi Friends,
I know you’re dying to know . . . the 4-year-old traveled like a champ without problems on our cross-country trip. And the new college freshman is a little wobbly emotionally, but settling in better each day.
And the cliffhanger survey? (Back pats all around for you 94 who replied!)
- 40 of you liked: “As long as the main plot is wrapped up, a small cliffhanger is ok.” — That is my personal choice.
- 21 votes for: “I love them – the bigger the better!” — What?! You crazy people probably also like that little TV Series called “Lost” 😀
- 16 votes for: “Absolutely not! I want everything wrapped up at the end of the book.” — That, I can understand. Nice and tidy fiction can be a soothing counterpoint to hectic real life.
Now that we’re clear on how divided you all are about cliffhangers, what about Dystopian series?
Below is a list of some of the recent ones I’ve read.
Which ones did you like (comment below)? Or maybe there is a new one you’d like to check out.
Did I miss any good ones? Please tell me! I’d love something new to read in the genre.
Dystopian Series I’ve Read
- Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- Divergent by Veronica Roth
- Silo Trilogy by Hugh Howey
- Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
- Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
- The Selection by Kiera Cass
- The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
- The Gender Game by Bella Forest
- Secondborn by Amy Bartol
- Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Writing Update
VIII is a pretty impressive looking number, isn’t it? I like the way Greek numbers look. 🙂
So, VIII = 8, which is the number of copies of Combat Mind, Book 2, that have sold since its release on Sept. 1st. Plus, Kindle Unlimited subscribers have read just over a thousand pages, which is about two more books. Thanks!
It’s a great start for a newbie author, so thank you to anyone who forked out some hard-earned cash to read my stories!
I am a week or so away from finished the final polish on Combat Outbreak, Book 3.
I’m using my secret weapon who catches all my last punctuation and grammar mistakes. She’s a teenage homeschooler and an amazing whiz at the English language. I no longer argue with her, because she’s usually right, and I’m wrong. Cool, huh? 😀
A little more plot fixing on Combat Impulse, Book 4 and it’ll be ready for beta readers, followed by ARC readers hopefully near the beginning of October. (shoot me an email if you’d like to join our advance reader and review team)
And finally, what I’m really looking forward to: outline and then start writing Combat Shift, Book 5.
Please, please, just let me just push Kiriai into a bunch of fun and impossible situations so she can fight her way out. Now, that’s the fun part of this indie author business!
Thank you for you support and emails! I love hearing from you. Happy reading!
— Misty 🙂
